Field recording of Gene Goforth

Jawbone comes to us from the minstrel repertoire.  Goforth's version is the best I've ever heard.  This is somewhat challening, but very rewarding.

Here's a YouTube video of the recording.  Goforth and John Hartford discuss some of the old minstrel lyrics before playing the tune.

Check out the version by Gene's brother, Cecil Goforth on the "Traditional Music of the Ozarks" album. It's the best "Jawbone" that I have ever heard.
